HOW IT ALL WORKS
Register your team for the game
Register your team through the MCA event coordinators. Only one person per team will need to register.
On game day, the team captain (team registrant) will receive your team's invitation email
This email will have the instructions on how to connect your team to the game experience. Simply follow those instructions to join the game.
Connect to the game using a computer, smartphone or tablet
Everyone on a team can connect to the game via Zoom but only one person per team will need to connect to the answer submission site (see FAQs below for the details).
That's it! Simply sit back and enjoy the game!
Once your team is connected, you are all set to compete in the game day challenge.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
We will be using the online meeting platform called Zoom as well as our answer submission website to deliver our games to your screen. On the day of the game, we will be sending your team captain (the person who registered) a game invitation email with instructions on how to connect to both (1) Zoom and (2) our online answer submission site.
If you are playing as one household and are all together:
(1) You can connect to Zoom using a computer, laptop, tablet or phone. A computer or laptop is recommended as that is the screen the questions and challenges will be displayed on. You can connect with as many devices to Zoom as you need for the players in your household to see the screen adequately.
(2) You will only need one person on your team to connect to the answer submission website. You can do that either on a separate device such as a tablet or smartphone or you can set up a split screen on your computer with one side being the Zoom window and one side being your browser window with the answer submission site. Detailed instructions on setting that up will be in the invitation email the team captain gets on game day.
If you are playing with multiple households where members of your team will be in different locations:
(1) Each household/location will need to connect to Zoom using a computer, laptop, tablet or phone. A computer or laptop is recommended as that is the screen the questions and items will be displayed on. You can connect with as many devices to Zoom as you need for the players in each household to see the screen adequately.
(2) You will only need one person on your team to connect to the answer submission website. You can do that either on a separate device such as a tablet or smartphone or you can set up a split screen on your computer with one side being the Zoom window and one side being your browser window with the answer submission site. Detailed instructions on setting that up will be in the invitation email the team captain gets on game day.
(3) You will be responsible for communicating between households/locations. We recommend a simple conference call on your smartphones or through an app such as facetime, etc. to allow discussion to happen between households/locations during the rounds and questions.
Logging in on Game Day:
You can login starting at 3:30 PM on game day (January 25th). You MUST be logged in by 3:45 PM on game day at the latest. Please give yourself enough time to get setup so we don't have to delay the start of the game. Our intention is to start promptly at 4:00 PM.
Socializing and Social Etiquette:
If you want to socialize with your fellow game participants, you can login at 3:30 PM and utilize the video and audio options in Zoom. At 3:45 PM, the game host will take over the Zoom screen in preparation for the game. At that point, your video and audio will be turned off and muted. Please do not unmute yourself at any point during gameplay. There will be auditors on the game that you can contact via private messaging through Zoom if you have any problems. We will try and address any connection questions leading up to that point, that is why we encourage you to give your team enough time to get settled in and connected.
Game Instructions:
Starting at 4:00 PM, the game host will go over detailed game play instructions so each team knows exactly what they will be doing and how they will be doing it throughout the game. Before each round starts, the host will go over detailed instructions on what you will be doing for that round and will go over examples of questions/challenges when warranted.
